Under the weather, something is strange. Can you tell I'm oh so out of place? Under the hammer, a hundred days, a wheel and a hamster, a hundred ways. Under the carpet, something's swept, too many emotions got supressed, under pressure, and you can't tell anyone the way you've felt these old men's‛ dreams that we're forced to live, they are a force to be reckoned with these old men's dreams, running on gasoline no air to breathe in between kind words impossible to find – leave it all behind (2x) under the carpet, more things swept can't tell anyone how hard you've wept, under the influence of a notion that you must control your emotions under the influence once again, since you’re hanging out with your friends under the rule of a male behaviour cold ones with a toxic flavour These old men's dreams…. Kind words impossible to find – leave it all behind (4x)

Silently playing in the depths of my mind to find out what I'd find if I were silently planning to get away from you, oh the things I'd do to tell the boat to sink itself let the rats follow their own way won't be the one that's there to stay only to find out that everybody else has gotten Away… Inside is raining, from station to station, I've run out of patience so running you'll find me away from this place and these dreams that do bind me and tell the boat to sink itself let the masks follow their own way won't be here for another day because everybody else has gotten Away….

So I'm waiting at the station searching your face in every passing Train rides into the suburb landscapes merging into a sea of nothing ever happens cos nothing was ever meant to happen ten minutes delay slowly arriving into the station disenchantment raging over everyone and everything disenchantment, there is no light which tomorrow's sun might bring maybe it's just my imagination yet, I swear I saw your face reflect in that window where someone's scratched in right-wing symbols no one's tried to remove from my memories the neon light falling on your cheek still half an hour of a ride for me look out the window, try to get some sleep disenchantment raging over everyone and everything disenchantment, there is no light which tomorrow's sun might bring (x2)

Well, I've searched all day for something to happen under the trees, under the stones and under the stairs at the only supermarket in this lonely town where I found nothing to buy there and now the walls of this town are closing in on me again There will be no teenage riot, waiting till that day's gone by there will be no teenage riot, waiting till that week's gone by and there will be no teenage riot, waiting till that month's gone by when there will be no teenage riot, we're just waiting for our time to pass by now my father figure fell three times stumbling his way to the bathroom under the sink, next to the bathtub and on the stairs so I'm taking the next train to get me out of here but if I wanted to catch that train, I should've gone out ten minutes ago and the next one won't come around until an hour or so and now the walls of this town are closing in on me again There will be no teenage riot, waiting till that day's gone by there will be no teenage riot, waiting till that week's gone by and there will be no teenage riot, waiting till that month's gone by when there will be no teenage riot, we're just waiting for our time to pass by (x2)

Old Sounds 02:48
Street light reflections pass the wind shield of your ride in serpentine lines, rain on the window passes by selections of memories, watch them from the passenger's side every side walk is empty, just us resounding through the night. To these Old sounds, from the past, when we had no place to go Old sounds, there's a path to escape it, we now know Feel the wind when I roll the window down I can smell the glow of rain on the ground there's houses, but no home to be found first they've built their walls, then they've built this town. Feel the fresh air of leaving in your lungs when you breathe in the salt of your past close your eyes and see it slowly disappear in the rearview at last With these Old Sounds, …

about

In his debut EP, Davíd Wunderlich is reflecting on his teenage years in a small and conservative suburb many might be familiar with.
Each one of the six tracks is a personal reckoning with the lethargy within this world, the longing for escape, the successful breakout, and ultimately the alienated return to a place characterized by social coldness, uniformity, and toxic masculinity. Nestled between synth-pop and post-punk, the EP exhibits grandeur as well as quiet, introspective moments. Drum machines with (synth-)basslines provide the energetic foundation, while minimalist guitars and eclectic samples set the mood.
Davíd Wunderlich's warm and deep tenor voice, accompanied by background choirs, is narrating its stories with a tinge of melancholy and accusation. “First They've Built Their Walls” is being released by the Leipzig record label Unterschall on cassette, limited to 50 pieces.
